Jakarta, August 27, 2021 PT Berkah Kawasan Manyar Sejahtera (BKMS) and PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) have signed a land lease agreement for PTFI's copper smelter and precious metal refining plant in KEK JIIPE Gresik, East Java, on August 27, 2021. The signing was attended offline by Mr. Haryanto Adikoesoemo, President Director of AKR; Mr. Bambang Soetiono, President Director of BKMS, Mr. Tony Wenas, President Director of PTFI; and other senior management of AKR, BKMS, and PTFI. Also, present virtually was Mr. Boy Robyanto, President Director of PELINDO III and senior management of BMS.
PTFI requires land and additional services and facilities at KEK JIIPE Gresik for the development, construction, and operation of a copper smelter and refinery, along with supporting infrastructure and related facilities. KEK JIIPE will provide land for lease as well as utilities and supporting services.
PTFI President Director Tony Wenas highlighted the reason PTFI chose KEK JIIPE, "The Copper Smelter Project is a very important project for PTFI. JIIPE as an integrated industrial estate provides the facilities Freeport needs, such as land readiness, ease of licensing and administration, and supporting infrastructure: ports, road connections, and laydown areas".
KEK JIIPE Gresik, East Java, is a joint venture between AKRA and PELINDO III and is one of the important public-private partnerships in Indonesia. Built with a total area of 3,000 ha consisting of an industrial area of 1,761 ha, a deep seaport of 400 ha, and a modern residential area of 800 ha.
JIIPE is designed as a green project with zero water runoff and complete utility facilities. This facility answers the needs of the industry by producing efficiency as well as being a source of recurring income for BKMS. The location of JIIPE, which is connected by sea, Krian-Legundi Bunder-Manyar Toll Road, and railways, provides convenience in the traffic of export and import goods in East Java.
