REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, GRESIK - Ports in the integrated industrial area of Java Integrated Industrial Port and Estate (JIIPE) in Many Gresik Regency will have four piers. This port is managed by PT Berlian Manyar Sejahtera (BMS).
JIIPE's Head of Marketing and Tenant Relations, Sianny Indrawati, said that one pier has been operating since the end of January 2016. This multi-purpose jetty serves loading and unloading of liquid bulk and general cargo. The length of the pier is around 250 meters with a depth of two sides, each minus 14 meters on the outside and minus 12 meters on the inside.
"There have been 35 ships that docked on this dock since it was rationalized last year. The load is more than 500 thousand tons, such as fertilizer, wheat and others, "he said, to reporters at the JIIPE management office, Manyar, Gresik, Tuesday (4/4).
Sianny added, BMS planned to extend the multi-purpose dock to 600 meters. So that later it can serve more ships that dock. "It's gradual, because JIIPE is new. So there are not many boat service users who use it. "They see what our services are like," he said.
The second pier was built on the reclaimed island to the right of the multi purpore pier. This dock serves loading and unloading mining items such as coal and dirty goods. This coal dock is smaller than a multi purpose dock.
While the third dock is built on the left side of a multi purpose dock. This pier serves fishing industries and offshore maintenance. While the last pier is used to serve container loading and unloading.
According to Sianny, so far the catches of fishermen in Tuban and Lamongan have not been marketed to the fullest due to limited infrastructure. Therefore, this fishing dock is specifically for serving loading and unloading fish. "We will also complement it with cold storage because in JIIPE there will be an LNG facility. So far, fishermen in Tuban and Lamongan do not have cold storage facilities, "Sianny said.
PT BMS was formed by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Persero) through its subsidiary, PT Berlian Jasa Terminal Indonesia (BJTI) and the private sector namely PT Usaha Era Pratama Nusantara which is a subsidiary of PT AKR Corporindo Tbk. Pelindo III holds a 60 percent stake, while 40 percent is held by AKR.
