GRESIK, 12 November 2025 — The Gresik Special Economic Zone (SEZ), located within the world-class integrated industrial area JIIPE (Java Integrated Industrial and Ports Estate), continues to strengthen its position as one of Indonesia’s most competitive investment destinations. PT Berkah Kawasan Manyar Sejahtera (BKMS), together with the East Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, officially launched the Residence Permit and Immigration Information Service Unit (ULITIK) inside the SEZ.
This initiative is part of the national I’m SEZ (Immigration Services for Special Economic Zone) program and marks the first-ever immigration service launched directly inside a Special Economic Zone in Indonesia. The presence of ULITIK brings significant benefits to investors, industrial tenants, multinational companies, and foreign workers operating in JIIPE Gresik.
Strengthening JIIPE Gresik’s Position as a Leading Investment Destination
With immigration services now available inside the SEZ, processes such as residence permits, visa extensions, and immigration consultations can be completed on-site eliminating the need to travel outside the industrial area. This breakthrough creates a faster, smoother, and more investor-friendly environment within JIIPE Gresik Industrial Estate.
President Director of BKMS, Bambang Soetiono, expressed strong appreciation for this collaboration.
“We highly appreciate this extraordinary innovation from the Directorate General of Immigration. Having residence permit services directly inside JIIPE Gresik significantly increases convenience for investors and foreign workers. This is a real step toward strengthening East Java’s investment climate,” he said.
A Strong Collaboration Supporting National Economic Growth
Head of the East Java Immigration Office, Novianto Sulastono, emphasized that ULITIK reflects strong synergy between the central government, local authorities, and the SEZ management.
“This innovation provides faster, more efficient, and more user-friendly immigration services for foreign workers within the SEZ. Everything can now be handled directly inside JIIPE Gresik,” he explained.
Administrator of Gresik SEZ, Ibnu Sina, highlighted the role of JIIPE in supporting Indonesia’s economic transformation.
“With the spirit of ‘I Am SEZ’, we aim to deliver simple, fast, and efficient services for all business players. This facility not only enhances the credibility of Gresik SEZ but also sets a benchmark for other SEZs across Indonesia,” he added.
Cooperation Agreement Signed & Special Immigration Unit Officially Opened
The inauguration ceremony concluded with the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between the Class I Immigration Office (TPI Tanjung Perak), PT BKMS, and the Gresik SEZ Administrator, followed by the ribbon-cutting of the newly established Special Immigration Service Unit (ULP).
With this milestone, JIIPE further solidifies its status as Indonesia’s most advanced integrated industrial estate and port, while reinforcing the role of Gresik SEZ as a new engine of economic growth in East Java.
