PLN Commissioner Mohamad Ikhsan directly reviewed the readiness of the electricity infrastructure to accommodate customer needs in the Gresik Special Economic Zone.
Surabaya, May 10, 2023, PT PLN (Persero) is ready to meet the Gresik Special Economic Zone (SEZ) power needs up to 240 MVA in December 2024 through strategic collaboration. Previously, a Power Purchase Agreement (PJBTL) was signed between PLN and PT Berkah Kawasan Manyar Sejahtera (BKMS) as the operator of KEK Gresik on Monday, March 14, 2022, to supply electricity to PT Freeport Indonesia in the area.
Visiting the Bungah Substation and Gresik SEZ, PLN Commissioner Mohamad Ikhsan was accompanied by PT PLN (Persero) Retail & Commerce Director Edi Srimulyanti and PLN UID East Java General Manager Lasiran. Ikhsan emphasized that PLN will continue to provide support and full flexibility to meet the needs in the field. Furthermore, he also emphasized that the tariff used is the same according to the designation of priority customers.
"This is a national strategic project, so the government's attention is fully focused here. PLN is ready to facilitate the supply of electricity with reliability, quality, and a competitive price for industrial customers throughout Indonesia," Ikhsan concluded.
Similarly, Director of Retail and Commerce of PT PLN (Persero) Edi Srimulyanti stated that the progress of electricity supply in Gresik SEZ also supports mineral downstream as a program set by the government.
"We will accommodate Freeport's smelter power demand of up to 170 MVA, which is divided into 4 stages from 2023 to 2024. Likewise, with the request for accelerated time, we will also facilitate reviewing our electrical readiness in terms of 150 kV and 20 kV networks," said Edi Srimulyanti.
The total power requirement of PT BKMS in 2023 of 30 MVA served from Bungah Substation (GI) is planned to be energized in September 2023. This BKMS Power Requirement is a need consisting of the needs of PT Freeport Indonesia and other tenants with a total of 360 MVA energized in 2025.
"Requests with power up to 240 MVA will be served by completing the construction of SKTT Manyar-Bungah which is planned to be energized in January 2024. We are systematically ready," said Edi.
President Director of PT BKMS, Bambang Soetiono Soedijanto, appreciated the collaboration and cooperation of PLN to accommodate the provision of reliable and quality electricity in Gresik SEZ.
"The government has targeted Gresik SEZ to be able to grow the investment climate, and in the next 5 years, the investment target has been determined. We thank PLN for their cooperation and support because this synergy is also to realize the government's target of advancing the nation's economy," Bambang explained.
Meanwhile, additional power needs will supply several other companies, such as glass manufacturing companies and copper foil manufacturing companies, with funding sources from industrial companies from Japan and America.
