The Coordinating Minister for the Economy sent a letter to the Regent of Gresik because he hung a KEK permit from the JIIPE industrial area. The reason is, even though the JIIPE industrial estate has fulfilled all of its licensing requirements, it has been more than a year since the submission of the Special Economic Zone (KEK) permit until now there has been no clear progress from the Gresik district government.
The International Port, known as the JIIPE industrial estate, was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on March 9, 2018 and is expected to be an attraction for investors in the industrial estate which will later become a Special Economic Zone (KEK). It turns out that this does not necessarily make Gresik Regency Government reduce its KEK permit for the JIIPE industrial area.
The length of the bureaucracy in Gresik Regency has received attention from the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, by sending a letter of support for the Proposed Establishment of the SEZ in the JIIPE industrial area dated May 8, 2020. Only because of the complicated bureaucratic and licensing issues in Gresik Regency, has it hampered incoming investors. who were initially interested in investing in the JIIPE industrial area.
