At present the government continues to strive to expand the utilization of natural gas in Indonesia. One of the efforts made by the government is to build a household gas network in various regions in Indonesia.
Dissemination of the benefits of natural gas is done because these energy sources have advantages when compared to BBM, among which are more affordable prices and more efficient use. In addition to household use, the government is also keen to encourage the use of natural gas in the industrial sector, one of which is in the East Java Industrial Zone of JIIPE.
The industrial sector, such as JIIPE East Java Industrial Estate, is considered as a sector that requires large amounts of natural gas. Government efforts to encourage the use of natural gas in Indonesia, including in the East Java Industrial Zone JIIPE, are nothing but to help reduce subsidies on the use of fuel and gas cylinders.
In other words, the use of natural gas in East Java's JIIPE Industrial Estate, in addition to reducing fuel use which tends to have a negative impact on the environment, also helps the government reduce subsidies for fuel and gas cylinders.
East Java Industrial Estate JIIPE itself is the largest industrial estate in East Java as well as the first integrated industrial area in Indonesia which has been equipped with ports and docks for cruise ships, as well as housing concept with an environmentally friendly independent city, named GEM City, with various exclusive facilities, such as golf course and shopping center.
