Industrial estate in Indonesia is divided into three generations with the third generation industrial estate as the latest. Third generation industrial estates, such as East Java Industrial Estates, JIIPE is designed to be more than an industrial estate in order to create a new industrial city.
East Java Industrial Estate JIIPE which is the first integrated area in Indonesia and the largest industrial estate in East Java is a model for other third generation industrial areas. This is because this industrial area has provided a variety of supporting facilities that are in line with standards for independent cities, such as power plants, gas pipelines, optical fiber and broadband internet.
Not only providing land for the factory area, East Java Industrial Estate JIIPE also provides housing that is an environmentally friendly independent city concept, as well as a port that has been integrated with the industrial estate. The port, which consists of four docks, is one that drives the East Java Industrial Zone, JIIPE, to become a model for other third generation industrial estates.
According to the former Governor of East Java, Soekarwo, a port integrated with the East Java Industrial Zone JIIPE was able to reduce production costs, including the distribution of goods, the ultimate goal of which was to encourage exports.
