Gresik, October 17, 2025 – The Gresik Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has begun implementing a digital-based logistics system through the pilot launch of the Customs Auto Gate System within the bonded area.
The program, officially launched on October 15, 2025, is the result of collaboration between Gresik Customs Office, Gresik SEZ Developer and Operator (BUPP), PT Berkah Kawasan Manyar Sejahtera (BKMS), and the Gresik SEZ Administrator, aiming to enhance service efficiency and expedite the movement of goods in and out of the zone.
The launch event was attended by Head of Gresik Customs Office, Asep Munandar, and Head of Gresik SEZ Administrator, Ibnu Sina. Both emphasized that this technological advancement is a key step in promoting business convenience and attracting more investment into the zone.
According to Asep Munandar, the Customs Auto Gate System is part of a larger initiative to position JIIPE as a national model for Special Economic Zone management.
“We hope JIIPE can become a benchmark for all SEZs in Indonesia. This Auto Gate System is designed to streamline operations and accelerate cargo movement, including those handled through the port, to make the process faster and more efficient,” said Asep.
The Auto Gate System operates by digitally reading cargo data, and the gate opens automatically once the container has received customs clearance. This innovation is expected to accelerate customs release, significantly reduce dwelling time, and enhance transparency and accountability in cargo monitoring.
Meanwhile, Gresik SEZ Administrator Head, Ibnu Sina, welcomed the system’s implementation, highlighting its potential to deliver greater service certainty for businesses while reducing national logistics costs.
“With this automated system, Gresik SEZ is now ready to compete as a world-class industrial area. We are committed to ensuring that investors receive fast, efficient, and modern services,” said Ibnu.
The pilot phase aims to ensure seamless system integration among Customs, the SEZ operator, and the container terminal. Upon successful testing, the Auto Gate System will be fully implemented for all export, import, and inter-zone operations within Gresik SEZ.
The introduction of the Customs Auto Gate System marks a concrete step in logistics service digitalization, reinforcing Customs oversight while maintaining smooth operations and supporting national supply chain efficiency.
