In 2019, the government stated that there were a total of 19 priority industrial estates outside Java that were being developed. The industrial estates are spread from Kalimantan, Sulawesi, to Papua.
Industrial estate, for example JIIPE Industrial Estate, is an area specifically used by business people working in the industrial field. The development of industrial estates such as the JIIPE Industrial Estate is considered capable of attracting investors to Indonesia which will certainly support national economic growth.
The development of industrial estates such as JIIPE Industrial Estates is a step in the National Medium-Term Development Plan or RPJMN for the period 2020-2024. Even though there are many challenges such as obtaining permit documents and providing infrastructure needs, the government will continue to strive in developing industrial estates in Indonesia.
At present there are 103 industrial estates scattered throughout Indonesia. In the East Java region itself, 8 industrial estates have been successfully developed by the government, for example JIIPE Industrial Estate in Gresik, SIER-PIER Industrial Estate, and Tuban Industrial Estate.
